Please read this email carefully; it contains important information.

1. On June 18th I will be traveling to Switzerland to buy a very specific watchmaking machine: a pivot burnisher.

2. The cost of the machine is $124,000. The machine will be purchased outright, paid in full, with no finance.
3. However to complete the watch wheel manufacturing process, a second machine is required: a hobber. The cost of a hobber is $155,000.
4. Both machines are manufactured by the same maker - Strausak. It would be hugely beneficial to purchase both machines together: saving on shipping, tooling, training etc. Also it would put me in position to negotiate on price.
5. Applying for a loan is out of the question for two reasons. Firstly, watchmaking machines are industry specific and while any bank would gladly approve such loan, I wouldn’t. The machines will not generate any income for the first 2 years and would be used purely for education and prototyping.
Secondly, I believe in the "asset for asset" philosophy. If I cannot afford them outright, I won’t buy them.
6. In order to complete the purchase of two Strausak machines I need to generate $155,000 by the end of business on Tuesday.  Therefore I am happy to offer 10% discount on any watch I have in stock.
7.  The 10% offer is conditional: if the total amount of sales is less than $155,000 then the offer will be withdrawn on Wednesday.
8. If you are my customer and a subscriber to my newsletter then you are well aware that for the past 23 years I have discounted less than a handful of watches. My prices are firm and not negotiable. This is a very unique offer so you should take advantage of it. Moreover, it applies to ANY watch on my website - from Rolex Seadweller, to Patek and Lange, to Omega and Breitling.
9. To apply: email me the following:
- Stock number of the watch you wish to buy
- Subject line: strausak
You will receive an email to acknowledge your offer straight away and on Tuesday, if the total sales is reached, we will send you a proforma invoice showing your 10% discount. You will then have 24 hours to settle your account.
This time only, free delivery (fully insured) will be included, free of charge.

10. I sincerely thank you all for your continuous support. Setting up a world class horological workshop in Australia is a serious project. The benefits to you, your kid and my kid, to any Australian kid who will one day be trained on the most precise machinery, is priceless. Thank you.

P.S. rebelde watches are excluded from this offer. However, if you place an order for any rebelde watch by the end of business Tuesday, I will throw in MY LIFETIME GUARANTEE for that watch - servicing and parts included. To see the rebelde 2017 stock, go to: http://www.rebelde.com.au/

Feel free to email me if you have any question or comment.
Here is a short FAQ:

Q: Are these new or preowned machines?
A: Brand new

Q: are there other burnishing/gear hobbing machinery manufacturers in Switzerland who make similar machines?
A: Yes, however Strausak is one of the makers who make both machines AND it is reasonably priced. For example, an Afolter hobber stars at $350,000.

Q: Who uses Strausak?
A: Jaeger LeCoultre for example. As well as many other leading Swiss watch firms.

Q: Why not go for a second hand machine?
A: if we cannot afford new ones, then yes, we’ll settle for a second hand one. However the second hand machines come with no tolling, no training and no support which is absolutely crucial for a small start-up business. The shipping on second hand machines is the same as on new. Most importantly, new machines are properly calibrated and guaranteed.

Q: Are there any other similar machines already in Australia?
A: No. At the moment we are the only business attempting to make watch parts.

Q: Can these machines be used for anything else but watchmaking?
A: No. Unlike lathes and mills, hobbers and burnishes are specific watchmaking machines.

Q: How precise are these machines?
A: Incredibly precise – the quality of the finished gears and pivots is the same as you will find in top Swiss watch brands. For example, the pivot burnished goes down to 50 microns – the thickness of human hair.

Q: So how many more machines do you need?
A: This is still unknown, but our commitment is to invest around $250K per year, for the next 5 years. This should allow us to produce close to 60% of the watch parts in Australia and claim an “Australian Made” watch.

Q: What if you don’t raise $155,000 by Tuesday?
A: We will.

Happy collecting,
Nick
